Uniforms
We have enjoyed a terrific start to the school year. A few reminders about appropriate uniform attire will only enhance community. Creativity is a fine trait but some policies are non-negotiable: slacks and shorts may be black or khaki (gray and white are not close) and backpacks/large purses will not be allowed once the school day has begun.
Safe Driving
It has been observed that drivers headed to Holy Family this week have been ignoring stop signs and speed postings. The police have contacted us and we are passing on the advice to be exceedingly careful and attentive to the rules of the road when coming to and leaving school.
Discipline Watch
You may have noticed a new section on the front of the website after logging in. You now see a counter of how many times your child (or yourself if you're a student) has been tardy and how many uniform violations they have in the current semester. Next to each is also a visual bar showing how close they are to receiving an automatic 75 minute detention which is assigned every 8 tardies or uniform infractions.
Please understand that each student may be late and may get a uniform violation, these are very typical student behaviors. If they reach a level that we feel is of a more serious nature than Mr. Thuli or Mr. Dols will contact you. The discipline watch is just another way to communicate with you regarding your son or daughter. We will follow up with your son or daughter if and when they get a detention, however, we just want to make sure that you know why they are getting a detention.
Project NOW - No Outstanding Work
One of the keys to success in school is simply keeping up with the daily assignments. Students have always been encouraged to seek help when they fall behind. Many Holy Family students keep themselves very busy after school with sports and other activities. A year ago, a new policy was introduced requiring that sports and other activities not begin on Wednesdays until at least 3:15 so that students may get help without worrying about missing practice. This year teachers will be using a new way to assign students to come in for extra help or to catch up on Wednesdays. On Mondays (or Tuesday if there is no school on Monday), parents of students that have been assigned to come in, will receive an email letting them know which teachers are requiring their child to come in that week. Note that this does not exclude the possibility of teachers requiring students to come in after school other days of the week as well. Students that are routinely behind on daily assignments may be asked to come in on other days regardless of whether they participate in an extra-curricular activity. Teachers will communicate with parents when academic problems arise.
Moms In Touch
Make an eternal difference in your student's life through prayer. One of the best things we can do for our children is pray for them. Moms In Touch is a great opportunity to lift our children and our school up to God. Please join us any time. We also welcome prayer requests from students, faculty, staff and parents. Prayer requests may be placed in the prayer request table located in the school chapel. A guiding principle of Moms in Touch is to keep every prayer confidential.

Hands for Harvest
Hands for Harvest is an organization that harvests potatoes for local food shelves. They rely on volunteers to help with the harvest. On Saturday, September 4
th Holy Family will be organizing a group to go and harvest potatoes. The event is open to Holy Family students and their families, including younger siblings. We will be providing transportation and loading the bus at approximately 8am. We will be returning to Holy Family no later than noon. We can take 40 volunteers, so please RSVP (or send questions) to John Dols at
